This customisable birthstone ‘Peas in a Pod’ necklace makes the perfect gift for women of all ages. Personally handcrafted at my sunny Titirangi home studio, each ‘pea’ represents a birthstone for children, siblings or members of a family, then they are carefully wrapped in a herringbone weave style using 100% recycled Argentium Silver wire.

Description

I started making the Peas in a Pod Birthstone Necklace after handcrafting one for a friend as a gift, after the birth of her third child – with each ‘pea’ representing the birth month of each child.

The Peapod Necklace makes the perfect personalised gift for the important women in your life. Each necklace is entirely unique, depending on the birthstones chosen.

Each ‘pea’ is represented by the genuine birthstones (where available) for each child in the family and the wrapped wire forms the pod casing to create a beautiful and sublime, tailor-made – necklace.

Wrapped in 100% recycled .935 Argentium Silver wire (more resistant to tarnish than Sterling), you can customise the gemstones inside the pea pod with the following natural birthstone options:

JANUARY: Garnet

FEBRUARY: Amethyst

MARCH: Aquamarine

APRIL: Diamond (Clear SC)*

MAY: Emerald (Green SC)*

JUNE: Pearl

JULY: Ruby (Red SC)*

AUGUST: Peridot

SEPTEMBER: Sapphire (Blue SC)*

OCTOBER: Tourmaline or Opal (White or Black available)

NOVEMBER: Topaz (Blue/ Yellow SC)* or Citrine available

DECEMBER: Turquoise

* Where the real gemstones are not available, I have used coloured Swarovski Crystals (SC) instead

NB If you’re looking for any of the other Peas in a Pod pieces – I have retired the earrings, ring, brooch and bangle and will now just be making the necklaces going forward.

Material: 100% recycled Argentium Silver wire (more tarnish-resistant than Sterling)
Total length: The peapod birthstone pendant measures between 3 – 5cm (1.2 – 1.96″) depending on the number and type of birthstones chosen. The pendant sits on a Sterling Silver chain 50cm (19.7″) with a lobster clasp.

A note on care:

Sterling silver wire is delicate — always put jewellery on as a finishing touch, after dressing and styling. Avoid catching chains on clothing. Store flat or hanging to keep its shape. With a little care, this piece will last for years.
